‘He picks up too many injuries for his age’: Zulte-Waregem reveals why Osimhen wasn’t sign

The decision of Belgium side Zulte-Waregem not to sign highly rated Nigerian ‎forward Victor Osimhen on loan from Wolfsburg after a short trial has been revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com.

Osimhen was at the club for trials ahead of a loan move but after three days of training, the club decided against signing him. A move which came as a surprise to many considering his abilities.

A club source has however revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com that the decision of the club was solely based on his poor injury record and nothing to do with his abilities on the pitch as suggested by many.

” It was not a normal trial. Osimhen was made to undergo some drills to test his fitness because the club are aware of the several setbacks he suffered last season due to injuries “, he explained to Owngoalnigeria.com.

” At the end they decided against signing him mainly due to fears over his physical condition and since they were not signing him as first choice striker, the club feel it’s of no use having a player with a poor injury record as back up”, he concluded.

The Nigerian has since returned back to Germany, where he is training with Wolfsburg, although he could yet leave the club before the end of the ongoing transfer window according to reports gathered by our editorial team.

Since joining Wolfsburg, he has failed to deliver on the promise that made the team spend €3m to sign him after his record breaking goal scoring feat at the 2015 U17 World Youth ‎Championship, where he finished as top scorer for eventual winners Nigeria.
