Aurier somehow avoids sending off for horror stamp on Bayern's Alaba

Tottenham defender Serge Aurier somehow avoided a red card during his side's 7-2 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich after a horror stamp on David Alaba.

Alaba executed a perfectly timed slide tackle clearance in the first half before Aurier launched himself into the air and stamped on his right thigh and knee with both feet.

Alaba was left writhing in agony for several minutes on the side of the pitch and was replaced by Thiago Alcantara at half-time but incredibly Aurier escaped without caution.

Referee Clement Turpin adjudged the tackle to have been accidental and opted not to use VAR to review his decision, despite the pleas of Bayern players.

Despite his good fortune in staying on the pitch, it turned out to be a miserable night for Aurier, who was at fault for a number of Bayern's goals.

The right-back, who was sent off against Southampton on Saturday after picking up two bookings, was caught out of position on multiple occasions as Bayern ran riot.
