Bayern Munich's plan: Renew Lewandowski or sell him next summer

Robert Lewandowski's contract comes to an end in June 2023, but Bayern Munich could consider selling their star striker next summer in the event he turns down their renewal offer.

The Bavarians have a one-year contract extension policy for players over the age of 30, yet they are contemplating making an exception for the Poland international.

According to Bild, Bayern are willing to offer Lewandowski a one-year renewal with the same salary, or a two-year deal in event he agrees to a pay cut.

Lewandowski, who received The Best FIFA Men's Player of the Year on Monday, is 33 years old, but he would attract interest from several European powerhouses should Bayern put him up for sale.

Club directors Oliver Kahn, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Hasan Salihamidzic are hoping that Lewandowski's future will be cleared up soon, as they will need to move for a striker, with Erling Haaland being an option in the event the Polish star departs this summer.

According to Transfermarkt, Lewandowski is valued at 50 million euros, a figure that many clubs would be eager to spend to land the Bayern striker.

Lewandowski open to all scenarios

Lewandowski avoided commenting on his future during The Best FIFA gala, when he stressed that he is focused on doing his job.

"When you show your performance on the pitch, it doesn't matter whether you play in team A, B or C," said Lewandowski.

"I can't think too much about speculation about other clubs or a new contract.

"In the end, I have to stay focused and do my best. That's always first on my mind. I'm an experienced player and hide everything else. There is still enough time. I stay patient and calm and don't stress."

He also talked about his Borussia Dortmund counterpart, Haaland, whom he praised for his performances in the Bundesliga.

"Erling is a different type of player than me, that's clear," he responded.

"But he's a top player and I'm happy that he's playing in the Bundesliga and can show how good he is. For me personally, that means I just have to keep doing my job and be happy that there are players like that in the Bundesliga."
