Bayern Munich have made a shock approach for Manchester City star Leroy Sane, according to the Daily Record.
The Bundesliga champions have reportedly been given permission to speak to Sane's representatives to discuss a lucrative summer transfer.
And if they successfully land the winger, it could provide Manchester United with a major boost in their pursuit of Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.
Bayern are thought to have put their interest in Pepe on hold as they look to land Sane as a replacement for outgoing Arjen Robben, giving United and other interest parties such as Arsenal are lifeline.
City, meanwhile, are keen to retain Sane but do no want to risk a situation where his contract runs down and may cash-in given he has rejected a string of contract upgrades and extensions.
Sane's current deal runs out in the summer of 2021, and he is said to be unhappy with his role in Pep Guardiola's squad and the fact he feels his value has not been met.
