Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed he is not expecting any substantial offers for Erling Haaland or Jadon Sancho as he feels 'dark clouds are gathering over European football.'

The attacking duo are two of Dortmund's most prized assets, and have been linked with a host of European heavyweights.

However, The Bundesliga club have tied down the sought after duo to long term deals and Watzke is not expecting any offers that would tempt BVB to sell.

'Overall, I don't think that crazy things will happen, 'The Dortmund CEO told Sky Germany.

'I know the situation in the European leagues very well, and the clouds are getting darker instead of lighter,'

However, Watzke did concede the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City could still be active in the market due to their financial power.

'[PSG and Man City] are backed by entire states which find ways and means to pump money in.' He added.

However, rumours persist that Dortmund may be prepared to sell either Sancho or Haaland this summer providing the price is right.

The club's position in the Bundesliga further complicates the issue, before this weekend's round of games BVB were in fifth in the table. Three points behind Eintracht Frankfurt who occupy the last Champions League spot.

Failure to reach European football's elite club competition would be a blow to the club's finances and could facilitate the need to sell star players, a top four finish is vital if BVB are to retain their current transfer strategy.

Next up for Dortmund is a trip to fierce rivals Bayern Munich on Saturday evening.
