After Côte d'Ivoire's 1-0 victory over Ecuador in the World Cup group stage, head coach Emerse Faé summarized the team's performance. He repeatedly emphasized the team's unity, patience, and the resilience shown by the young squad in their first World Cup.

Faé stated in an interview with FIFA: "We were united, we remained patient, and we were ready for the battle we anticipated. I want to congratulate all the players, because this World Cup is the first for each of them."

He further explained the reasons for the team's initial nervousness, attributing it to the natural reaction of appearing on the World Cup stage for the first time.

Regarding the match itself, Faé also pointed out the pressure from the opponent: "The match was not easy, many opposing fans came, and we felt like we were playing in a hostile environment, but this was a very important performance that will help us face the upcoming matches."

He believes that it was precisely under this high-pressure atmosphere that the team gradually matured and made crucial adjustments.

When evaluating the performance of young players, Faé highly praised Diomande: "We have complete faith in him. As long as he gets the ball, he can change the game. This kid is extremely talented. As a coach, it's a blessing to have such a player."

He further elaborated: "He can dribble, operate on both wings, make forward runs, always keeping opponents guessing, and is also very active defensively. We are lucky to have him, as well as Pepe and Amad Diallo Traore."
