Callum Hudson-Odoi is close to sealing a season-long loan move to Bayer Leverkusen.
Chelsea and the Bundesliga side are in advanced talks over a temporary deal for the winger.
Discussions are ongoing over the loan fee Leverkusen will pay Chelsea to borrow the 21 year-old, though they have agreed a wage split for Hudson-Odoi whose current deal is worth in excess of £100,000-per-week.
Hudson-Odoi informed Chelsea he was keen to leave earlier this month in a bid to secure more regular football.
That has been hard to come by since he recovered from a serious Achilles injury with Hudson-Odoi failing to be given consistent opportunities in one or the same position.
Chelsea were only willing to let Hudson-Odoi leave on loan, and his desire alerted a string of clubs with a number of clubs at home and abroad being genuine contenders before Leverkusen emerged as front-runners.
The 21-year-old will be allowed out on loan along with defenders Ethan Ampadu, who is a target for Spezia, and Trevoh Chalobah, who is emerging as Inter Milan's prime option for centre-back.
Hudson-Odoi only started 11 Premier League matches at Chelsea last season and has yet to feature for Thomas Tuchel this campaign.
The Blues suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Leeds at Elland Road on Sunday, slipping to 12th in the table.
