'Coutinho can ruin Liverpool's Champions League'

Didi Hamann knows what it takes to win the Champions League, the midfielder famously come off the bench at half-time to help Liverpool defeat AC Milan in 2005.

Despite Klopp transforming Liverpool into one of the most dangerous sides on the continent, Hamann doesn't think the Reds will add to their haul of six European Cups this season.

Instead, the ex-Manchester City and Bayern Munich midfielder has backed one of his other former clubs to go all the way in the tournament this season following an impressive summer in the transfer market - and it's all because of Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho struggled when facing Liverpool for the first time since leaving the club in the Champions League semi-finals last season as he endured a difficult 18 months at Camp Nou.

But that hasn't stopped Hamann from backing the playmaker to be the difference for Bayern this year as they look to reach the final for the first time since their final victory in 2013.

"With Coutinho this is possible," the German said when asked about Bayern's Champions League chances. "He is one of the world's best number tens.

"He is going to change Bayern's game fundamentally."
