Favre: 'Milinkovic dived for penalty'

Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre accused Sergej Milinkovic-Savic of ‘diving’ for a Lazio penalty. ‘It’s like he was in a swimming pool.’

The midfielder went down under a Nico Schulz challenge on the very edge of the box and Ciro Immobile converted the equaliser, after a Raphael Guerreiro opener.

The Champions League match ended 1-1, which was enough to qualify Dortmund for the Round of 16, while Lazio still need a point against Club Brugge.

“We only drew because the referee awarded a non-existent penalty,” Favre complained to Sky Deutschland.

“Of course it was a dive, he looked like he was in a swimming pool. It’s ridiculous, you cannot identify what foul Schulz has made there.

“In any case, we are through, and that’s that.”

Erling Haaland wasn’t even on the bench tonight, and Favre revealed the hamstring injury is serious.

“He won’t be back until at least January. I think he played too much lately.”
