Harry Kane has been told to forget about breaking Alan Shearer's goal record and leave the English Premier League.

Former Tottenham midfielder, Danny Murphy believes that Bayern Munich would be a perfect destination for the England striker.

The England national team captain is now Tottenham's all-time scorer after netting the only goal on Sunday in the 1-0 win over Manchester City which eclipsed Jimmy Greaves' 266 goals for Spurs in all competitions.

Kane is now chasing Alan Shearer's Premier League record of 260 goals in his sights.

His contract with Spurs expires in 2024 and there have been rumours he could leave in the summer, with the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United known to be interested.

And Murphy believes the striker should move abroad in his quest for silverware which has eluded him so far.

Murphy said on talkSPORT, “He's not going to win anything decent with Tottenham.

“They're nowhere near it, are they? The thing is, it depends where your options are.

“Bayern Munich are one of the best teams in Europe.

“And I think the trophy bit at the end which is highly likely in going to a club like Munich, than maybe breaking the [Alan Shearer's] Premier League record.”
