Kane 'wouldn't turn down' Man Utd offer despite drastic Bayern Munich action

Harry Kane still has more than a year left on his Bayern Munich contract, but speculation has continued to follow the England captain as he keeps banging in the goals

Former Manchester United defender Danny Simpson believes Bayern Munich star Harry Kane would find an Old Trafford move impossible to turn down. Kane has been in some of the best goalscoring form of his life for Bayern as Vincent Kompany's side challenge on multiple fronts, but speculation over his future continues despite his current deal running until 2027.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that Bayern were ready to break their own rules to hand Kane a new deal. The club have previously committed to only offering one-year deals to players aged over 30 but are said to be willing to make an exception amid interest from the likes of Barcelona.

A Premier League return has also been mooted. Kane is just 47 goals shy of Alan Shearer's all-time record of 260 goals in the competition, and Simpson believes the England captain would jump at the chance to chase that record with United.

"I don’t know where else he could go, if I’m honest," Simpson told Dream Vegas. "He can’t go to [Manchester] City. He can’t go to Arsenal. I can’t see him turning Manchester United down.

"He can come back, and get the goals record. I’d love to see it. I said it when he was leaving Tottenham, I’d love to see him at Manchester United. It’s a good fit. If that’s an option I’d 100% go for it."

Simpson hasn't been deterred in his feelings by United's big-spending summer. Benjamin Sesko arrived from RB Leipzig as part of a £200million spree, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo also arriving, and the former defender doesn't see the Slovenia striker's presence as a barrier to a Kane deal.

"He could help Sesko as well. Sesko would understand not playing every game, learning under Harry Kane, and not having that pressure," Simpson added. "He’s (Kane) won his trophies at Bayern now, so if he comes back and gets Manchester United back up to the top of the Premier League, he could be a Manchester United legend like when [Robin] Van Persie came."

Simpson's comments come despite Kane speaking positively about his Bayern future. The striker's 26 league goals last term helped pave the way for a title win, while he has 22 in just 16 appearances this term to help Bayern win all of their fixtures.

"In terms of staying there longer, I could definitely see that," the 32-year-old said in October. "I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.

"Obviously, it depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together. Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else. In terms of the Premier League, I don't know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back.

"Now I have been there a couple of years, I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, not so much, but I wouldn't say I would never go back. What I have learnt in my career is that different opportunities and different timings happen and things fall in place. Going back to my first point with Bayern right now, I am fully all in with Bayern."
