It’s lucky that no one was hurt in this incident.
According to a report by TZ, Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman was involved in a car accident on the A95, a road to the south of Munich. The player apparently collided with a safety barrier. Police later confirmed that no one had been injured in the accident, although the car has apparently been declared a total loss. The accident took place on the 23rd of December, the day after Bayern’s 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
According to the police report, this is what may have happened: On December 23rd at 6:55, the Frenchman was traveling south on the Autobahn between Munich and Starnberg. Speed limit: 80 km/h. As the speed restriction ended, Coman may have given a little to much gas. The road was wet, and the car subsequently lost traction and began to spin.
The car hit the safety barrier and slid along it, eventually coming to a stop 150 meters later in the middle lane of the highway. Coman was checked for injuries in an ambulance and then took a taxi home. Thankfully, the player was unhurt.
Coman can be seen posing with his beautiful white McLaren 720S on Instagram:
He wouldn’t be the first footballer to have a mishap while driving, and certainly not the last. Supercars like the McLaren are built for performance, but they can punish an inexperienced driver. The TZ report makes no mention of a DUI, which is also good. Coman can consider himself lucky to have escaped the accident unscathed.
