L’Équipe are reporting that Lionel Messi (35) is a doubt for Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League tie against Bayern Munich, which takes place in under a week.
Messi suffered a hamstring injury during the club’s 2-1 Coupe de France match against fierce rivals Olympique de Marseille. However, the World Cup winner did nonetheless play the full 90 minutes. L’Équipe, report that the Argentinian international will already miss out on the trip to face AS Monaco at the Stade Louis II in a crucial Ligue 1 clash on Saturday, whilst his participation in next week’s match against Bayern Munich is also now in question.
PSG face Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie on Tuesday, leaving very little time for Messi to return and be in contention for the match. Kylian Mbappé (24) is already confirmed to miss the first leg of the tie, meaning that an out-of-form PSG could be without two of their three forward starters.
However, L’Équipe journalist Loïc Tanzi has since added that Les Parisiens believe that Messi can still play a part in Tuesday’s Champions League tie.
