Luka Jovic put the 'super' in 'super sub' for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2017/18, but what else is there to know about the lean, mean Serbian scoring machine?
bundesliga.com has the skinny on the Benfica loanee ahead of his second season in the Bundesliga…
Luka Jovic
Age: 20
Position: Forward
Club: Eintracht Frankfurt
Country: Serbia (two caps)
Key stats
Jovic made 22 appearances in his debut Bundesliga campaign, making nine starts and scoring four of his eight goals as a substitute. That might look like a modest return, but at one point he was second only to Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski in the goals-per-minute department. The 5'9" forward, who hit 34 goals in 56 games from the U16s up, was duly rewarded with his first senior international cap for Serbia in June 2018.
Plays a bit like: Falcao
Jovic has a lot of qualities, so much so he's been dubbed 'the Serbian Falcao' in his homeland. It's easy to see why. Aside from being a pacy and clinical goalscorer, the former Red Star phenom is as useful in the box as he is outside of it, isn't afford to use his 'weaker' right foot and has managed to pack on noticeably more muscle mass than your average footballer.
Did you know?
Jovic is the youngest goalscorer in the history of Red Star Belgrade. The Serbian front man was just 16 years, five months and five day days when he found the net in league match against Novi Sad on 28 May 2014.
What they're saying
