Newcastle have reportedly turned their attention to Porto striker Samu Aghehowa after losing to Manchester United in the race to sign Benjamin Sesko.

The Magpies have had no luck in their search for a new forward after star man Alexander Isak made it clear he wants to leave and join Liverpool.

Sesko has been added to a list of attacking rejections that includes Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Bryan Mbeumo and Hugo Ekitike.

The situation is becoming somewhat desperate with the new season beginning in one week's time.

And David Ornstein of The Athletic claims that Newcastle are now considering a move for Porto's Aghehowa.

He adds that no formal approach has been made as of yet and there is no guarantee that it will happen.

Aghehowa shone for the Portuguese side last season following his move from Atletico Madrid.

The 21-year-old netted 27 goals in 45 games in all competitions and notably netted twice against Man United in the group stages of the Europa League.

Aghehowa signed a five-year contract with Porto, which contains a €100m release clause, through to 2029.

Brentford's  Yoane Wissa and Wolves' Jorgen Strand Larsen are also of their list of potential targets.
