March winner
Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund)
Schlotterbeck was an ever-present for Dortmund in March, playing every single minute, but it was his performance on Matchday 27 against Mainz that caught the eye. Taking corners for the first time in his Bundesliga career, two of the centre-back’s five efforts proved to be assists for BVB goals, with only eight players managing to create as many efforts from such situations throughout the 2024/25 campaign to date.
His two assists in March were a joint-lead across the month, while he continues to perform strongly at the other end of the pitch. Unfortunately for Die Schwarzgelben, the 25-year-old will be unavailable for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
March's other nominees
Nadiem Amiri (Mainz)
Amiri picked up a first Germany cap since 2020 against Italy in the UEFA Nations League during the recent international break. It was just reward for the midfielder, whose fantastic form this campaign carried on into March. Only one player in the Bundesliga managed more goal contributions than Amiri’s two goals and two assists across the month, which that was more than any of his Mainz teammates.
The 28-year-old is one of the first names Mainz's teamsheet – he started each of the 05ers' last four matches, and was only taken off in two. Thanks to Amiri's continuing crucial impact, Bo Henriksen’s side remain on course for a maiden UEFA Champions League spot.
Michael Olise (Bayern Munich)
Olise is on the shortlist for the Player of the Month award once again as a result of his incredible consistency. In March, he created the most chances in the German top flight (14), and was also directly involved in more shots (24) than any of his contemporaries.
One of those was a goal in the 3-1 victory over VfB Stuttgart, while his eighth and ninth assists of the season put him top of that particular ranking. With Olise in this kind of form, Bayern will take some stopping as they look to regain their Bundesliga title
Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig)
March was a difficult month for Leipzig, with the side picking up just four points across their four matches – miserly by their high standards. They only managed three goals, but Xavi played a part in all of them, converting two himself and laying on the other.
On top of that, the midfielder was involved in 19 shots on goal – a team high and the third best total in the Bundesliga.
Robin Hack (Borussia Mönchengladbach)
Hack doubled his goalscoring tally for the campaign with a brace against Heidenheim on Matchday 24, before providing an assist two weeks later in the victory over Werder Bremen – he also played a role in two more Gladbach goals against Ole Werner’s men.
Hack’s displays have been pivotal as the Foals search for a European return. He also created eight chances and was directly involved in 17 opportunities overall – both Gladbach highs.
Nordi Mukiele (Bayer Leverkusen)
Leverkusen have lost just two matches in the Bundesliga this season, and Mukiele was not in the starting line-up for either of them. The 27-year-old is a key component of Die Werkself’s defence, winning 61 percent of his duels in March, more than any of his colleagues.
Mukiele also scored his first Bundesliga goal for Leverkusen in the 4-1 triumph over Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 24. Therefore, his place amongst this group of six is worthy recognition for his showings.
