According to the Scottish Sun, the 24-year-old's recent form has put him on the verge of an England call-up.

Saturday's goal was his third in as many games and his form of late has been outstanding.

Earning another chance with the national team is one thing, but it could also enhance his chances of leaving Southampton during the summer.

Saturday's opponents could do a lot worse.

Ward-Prowse has played 226 times for the Saints and was a mainstay in the team under the management of Pochettino.

After dropping 11 points in the last month, Spurs will definitely need to go shopping during the summer.

The middle of the park could be an option that Pochettino looks to strengthen and Ward-Prowse is currently ticking all the boxes.

Southampton born and bred, Ward-Prowse can pass a ball, isn't afraid to get stuck in and has recently found the way to goal.

The Saints are currently struggling near the relegation zone and Ward-Prowse could use his England return as the catalyst to secure a move to a bigger club.

According to Spotrac, Ward-Prowse is earning £45k-a-week at the Saints.

For a player of such quality that's not the most appealing wage and the chance to join a club of larger magnitude must be tempting in that sense.

As a result, Spurs would be wise to try and poach his former midfielder during the next transfer window.
