‘Get the rave on’ - Pickford reveals inscription on boots

Most players have the names of their wives or children inscribed on their boots but Jordan Pickford has a unique message stitched into his.

Everton goalkeeper Pickford, who is set to feature for England against Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday, has the message 'Get the rave on' written on his boots.

The 24-year-old is known for his sense of humour, and tweeted the phrase when Sunderland stayed up and Newcastle were relegated at the end of the 2015/16 season.

The shot-stopper has also used the phrase in interviews before and is continuing to make use of it.

Pickford's connection with Sunderland is undeniably strong given that he progressed through the ranks at the club's academy before proceeding to make 35 senior appearances.

Since joining Everton in 2017, Pickford has enjoyed a meteoric rise that has seen him establish himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for both club and country.

After facing Spain, England then play Switzerland in a friendly at Leicester's King Power Stadium next week, and Pickford will be hoping that the message on his boots will bring him luck.
