FOOTBALL fans were left stunned after spotting David Moyes confront the referee in the tunnel before the Merseyside derby.
Moyes' Everton were locking horns with Liverpool at Anfield in the 213th top-flight meeting between the two historic clubs.
But as the players lined up to walk out of the tunnel, the Toffees boss was seen in conversation with the referee during TNT Sports' live broadcast.
The 62-year-old could be seen talking to referee Darren England.
However, he did not appear to be too happy during the chat.
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk was seen laughing at whatever had been said as Moyes walked away.
Fans also picked up on the exchange and took to social media to speculate on what it was about.
One fan said: "David Moyes complaining already and Van Dijk laughing at him."
A second said: "What’s Moyes fuming about already."
A third added: "Moyes moaning already, not even out the tunnel yet."
Another said: "What was Moyes going mad at the ref for in the tunnel?"
Moyes has overseen 22 matches at the home of Liverpool across his career.
However, with Everton, Manchester United and West Ham, he is yet to pick up a victory with a record of seven draws and 15 defeats.
Six of those defeats have come as the manager of Everton.
And Moyes saw Everton get off to a nightmare start against the reigning champions.
Ryan Gravenberch scored a stunning goal after 10 minutes before Hugo Ekitike netted with a clinical finish to double the lead in the 23rd minute.
