Mason Greenwood has signed his first professional contract with Manchester United at the age of 17.

The youth striker has been regularly spotted training with first team stars such as Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez and the club are keen to not lose one of their academy stars.

Greenwood, who celebrated his 17th birthday on Monday, was top scorer in United's academy squad last season and is slowly being integrated by Jose Mourinho into the first team set-up.

He may be some time away from entering the field for Mourinho's side but he has got his head down and is contuing to find the net for Nicky Butt's academy side.

Greenwood, who is good with both feet, found the net on his UEFA Youth League debut recently in the 2-1 success at Young Boys, and scored again in Tuesday's European match against Valencia.

He claimed the second goal in a resounding 4-0 triumph for Butt's side.

It is a welcome boost to United supporters ahead of the first team's meeting with Valencia at Old Trafford later on Tuesday.

The club are in a difficult period, the toughest for Mourinho since his arrival, as they look to respond to the weekend defeat away to West Ham.
