Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale produced a wild celebration in delight after Bruno Fernandes dragged his penalty wild.

Mikel Arteta's side reignited their top-four hopes after beating Manchester United 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

But United had the opportunity to draw level when Arsenal led 2-1, only for Fernandes strike the post from the penalty spot to the delight of Ramsdale.

The 23-year-old jumped and punched the air in front of Fernandes, drawing comparisons to Gunners legend Martin Keown.

Steve McManaman, who was on commentary for BT Sport said: 'See Ramsdale's celebration, wasn't it reminiscent of someone missing a penalty many moons ago against Van Nistelrooy.

Keown celebrated in similar fashion when the two sides met at Old Trafford in 2003, jumping and celebrating in front of Ruud van Nistelrooy, who missed an injury-time penalty to extend Arsenal's unbeaten run.

Fans took to Twitter to mirror similar views. One said 'Thought Ramsdale was gonna go full Keown v Van Nistelroy on Bruno after the miss'

A second fan Tweeted: 'Bruno van Nistelrooy, with Ramsdale channeling Keown'.

A third said: 'The Ramsdale celebration on Bruno's headtop was a proper Keown on RVN moment.

Arsenal took the lead after just three minutes as Nuno Tavares reacted fast to David De Gea's save from Bukayo Saka's strike.

Saka doubled the lead with a penalty in the 34th minute before Ronaldo pulled one back for United two minutes later.

The win was sealed 20 minutes from time after Granit Xhaka got on the scoresheet with a powerful long-range strike past De Gea.

The win sees Arsenal leapfrogTottenham into fourth spot. But Antonio Conte's side will get the chance to go back ahead of their rivals when they take on Brentford later on Saturday.
