Former Arsenal captain Aaron Ramsey will join up with Gunners legendary boss Arsene Wenger after joining OGC Nice following the termination of his Juventus contract.

Ramsey spent 10 years playing under Wenger's stewardship during his time at Arsenal and enjoyed great success with the Frenchman as he lifted the FA Cup three times.

Now Ramsey will have the chance to once again link up with his former mentor after signing a three-year contract with the French side.

Nice manager Lucien Favre, formerly of Borussia Dortmund explained the upcoming reunion when speaking at Ramsey's official unveiling.

'Next week Aaron will be able to meet with Arsene Wenger, who's supposed to be coming here. They know each other well.

'He's a player who can adapt to different positions. He feels football.

'He's always optimistic and that's very positive as well. I hope his injuries are behind him,' said Favre.

It is unknown what Wenger will be doing at Nice and whether he is set to agree a professional role at the club or is purely there to welcome Ramsey to his new surroundings.

The 72-year-old has been working as the Chief of Global Football Development at FIFA since leaving Arsenal in 2018, along with working as a television pundit for various broadcasters.

Ramsey was linked with a return to Premier League football after a torrid three years in Turin that was mangled by injuries, but chose to sign for the progressive Ligue 1 side that finished fifth last season.

The Welshman spent the end of last season on loan at Rangers before mutually agreeing to terminate his £400,000-per-week contract at the Italian club.

In search of first-team football ahead of this winter's Qatar World Cup, Ramsey said:

'I am very happy to be here and to be part of the project. I am very excited to arrive in this young and talented team.

'I feel very good. I trained well this week and discovered a staff fantastic.

'My experience at Juventus took me out of my comfort zone.

'I had been at Arsenal for a long time. Today I have a new opportunity and I can't wait to start this adventure.'
