Kane’s transfer U-turn

Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane yesterday ended the biggest transfer saga of the summer by confirming that he would stay at Spurs this summer.

The England captain had made his aim to leave north London clear this summer, with Manchester City the chief interested party. However, no suitable bid came in, with the Citizen’s best bid reaching 150m euros, well below Kane’s perceived valuation to Spurs.

As a result, Kane will now be staying at Spurs for the 2021-22 season.

Kane set to demand new contract

Now, as per The Times, Harry Kane is set to demand a bumper new contract with Tottenham.  The forward is thought to be asking for £400,000 per week, which would represent a massive upgrade on his current £230,000 per week deal.

Crucially too, Kane is keen to learn from his mistakes and insert a release clause into his contract, but there is no indication of the amount that this would be. For their part, Spurs are thought to be set to offer Kane a new deal, which would keep him at the club until 2027, when he is 34 years old.

Will Kane sign a new deal at Spurs, or will he leave for pastures new next summer?
