Agbonlahor: If Villa Sign Messi, They'll Win the Premier League and Champions League

Messi recently delivered an explosive performance representing Argentina, and Agbonlahor believes that if the 37-year-old star were to join his beloved Aston Villa, he could lead the team to win the Premier League title and the Champions League trophy.

On the TalkSPORT FIFA World Cup morning show, host Andy Goldstein posed a hypothetical question to Agbonlahor: of Messi, Kane, Mbappé, and Haaland, who should Villa sign?

Agbonlahor replied, "I'd pick Messi. I believe Villa could win the Premier League. As long as Aston Villa signs Messi, they'll win both the Premier League and the Champions League titles."

TalkSPORT morning anchor Olivia Buzaglo exclaimed about the atmosphere: "I can't even describe the atmosphere in that stadium; everyone was worshiping Messi. This is probably the closest you'll ever get to a football 'god' in your life. How lucky we are to live in the same era as Messi."

Agbonlahor added: "Before Olivia left for the stadium, I told her this would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and the atmosphere in the stadium is irreplaceable. When I went to Qatar to watch Argentina play Mexico, my seat was terrible, but all I saw were Argentine fans. Being there was like seeing a god with your own eyes, and the atmosphere was like a 90-minute concert—a top-tier Messi-exclusive concert. If anyone is in the US, Canada, or Mexico now and has the chance to see Messi in an Argentina jersey, don't miss it; this might be the last time you see him play in person. If I were working with the radio station in North America right now, no matter how expensive the ticket, I would pay it to see him again."

Andy Goldstein interjected in agreement: "You're right, we are witnessing the greatest player of all time."

At the end of the show, Agbonlahor also stated that Messi would likely play in the 2030 FIFA World Cup, at which point he would be 43 years old, and still be able to captivate fans.

"Watching the entire match yesterday from beginning to end, all I heard were shouts of 'Messi.' Olivia was absolutely right. He's on a different level than everyone else. I said a few days ago, don't be surprised if Messi plays in another FIFA World Cup."
