Alan Shearer: Kane would 'OBLITERATE' EPL goals total if he goes to Man City

Alan Shearer has insisted Tottenham star Harry Kane would 'absolutely obliterate' his Premier League goals record if he moved to Manchester City.

The title winners launched a £100million assault for the striker on Monday, although Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is still holding out for £150m.

And Shearer told UMM that the England captain - currently on 166 goals in the English top-flight - would break his record of 260 within three or four years if he moves to the Etihad, when asked if he was worried about Kane catching him up.

He said: 'Sweating?! No. Do I think he will do it? He probably will do. I've had it for 20-odd years so it will go one day, and if it goes then why not go to him, he's a nice guy. He'll absolutely obliterate it if he goes to City, in three or four years.'

Shearer, an integral part of England's Euro 1996 side which reached the semi-finals before being knocked out in heartbreaking fashion on penalties by Germany, also had his say on the current squad and which team is better.

He added: 'We've got some seriously talented footballers in this England squad. When you're talking about Mount, Foden, Harry Kane, Sancho, Sterling, Rashford.

'There are some seriously talented footballers in there. Maybe they've even got more talented footballers as a group than we had in '96.'

The 50-year-old then discussed the best player he ever played alongside across his lengthy career, naming an international team-mate from the 1996 tournament.

He stated: 'The best player I ever played with was probably Gazza (Paul Gascoigne) or Paul Scholes, two brilliant midfielders.'

Three Lions skipper Kane has struggled so far during England's two matches at this summer's European Championship.

In response to his current travails, Shearer advised him to stop coming short for the ball and scream at defenders to get crosses in.

Manager Gareth Southgate has already stated Kane will start in the country's final group stage match against the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
