Alessandro Bastoni's agent has opened the door for a possible move to Tottenham after encouraging the defender to be 'professional' ahead of a summer transfer.

The Italian centre-back has been linked with Spurs in recent weeks, with Antonio Conte knowing the player well from their time at Inter Milan together two years ago.

Speaking to Sportitalia, Tullio Tinti revealed: 'He [Bastoni] is certainly a big fan of the team he plays for, so he will happily remain at Inter.

'However, he is also a professional. This is football and he has to adjust. It's clear he is very happy to play for Inter and feels this jersey like a tattoo on his skin.'

Though there is hesitancy on Bastoni's side, Tottenham are confident they can get a deal done with the Antonio Conte knowing the Italian well from their time together at Inter.

Spurs are looking to recruit a new left-sided central defender to fit into their three-at-the-back system - with Bastoni being seen as the perfect candidate to slot in alongside Eric Dier and Christian Romero.

Conte's side have already announced the arrival of one Inter Milan star - with Ivan Perisic agreeing to join the club on a free transfer after his deal in Italy ran out.

The Inter defender is expected to start for Italy in their Nations League match against Germany, which will be his 13th senior cap for the Azzurri.

Inter signed Bastoni for £31m from Atalanta back in 2017, loaned him back, then loaned him to Parma, before giving him a chance in their own first-team.

The 23-year-old has since developed into a key player for the club and was instrumental in their Scudetto victory under Antonio Conte in 2020/21.
