Trent Alexander-Arnold appeared to be sending a message with his goal celebration in Liverpool's win over West Ham.
With just six months remaining on his Liverpool contract, speculation has been rife that the 26-year-old will opt to seek pastures new when his deal expires.
Reports from Spain in recent days claimed Alexander-Arnold had informed Liverpool that he was intent on joining Real Madrid in the summer.
Alexander-Arnold was also said to have rebuffed offers from Liverpool for a new contract, and that heb had 'no doubts' about wanting to join the European champions.
However, after netting the fourth goal in Liverpool's clash with West Ham on Sunday, the England international appeared to dismiss the recent speculation surrounding his future.
After his deflected effort put Arne Slot's side 4-0 up, Alexander-Arnold ran over to the travelling support at the London Stadium and appeared to make a chatter gesture with his hand.
On social media Liverpool supporters interpreted Alexander-Arnold's motioning as evidence that he will remain at his boyhood club.
One wrote: 'I’m choosing to view that “chatter” celebration from Trent as positive.'
Another agreed: 'Trent’s celebration after scoring. The Madrid-based papers have been making a lot of noise about him this week. This is the biggest signal that he’s saying it’s all nonsense.'
A third added: 'Nahhhh that celebration has done me. Sign the contract Trent, become a legend at this football club, we’re begging you.'
Speaking the game on Sunday Arne Slot addressed the speculation surrounding the futures of Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
'I don't think it's negative at all, he's playing really well,' Slot said on Sky Sports. 'He scored a great goal.
'The way he celebrated his goal told you about it. For the outside world there's maybe more happening with Trent but I'm happy with all three.'
