Alexander-Arnold puts Lingard to shame with EPL assists total this season

  /  autty

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been a revelation for Liverpool and has helped guide them to a second-place finish in one of the best title races in years.

The 20-year-old has incredibly set up his team-mates to score 12 times in the Premier League this season as Liverpool racked up a staggering 97 points in the process.

Alexander-Arnold's assist total would be a great achievement for most forwards, with Eden Hazard and Ryan Fraser the only other players who were able to better the right back's contributions this season.

What's more impressive though is how Alexander-Arnold has been able to notch more assists in 29 games than Jesse Lingard has managed in the league throughout his entire career.

The Manchester United playmaker has only set up his team-mates to score 10 times during the 111 top-flight games he's played for the club.

It's quite the embarrassing stat for Lingard, considering he's played 44 more games than his England team-mate, plays further up the field and has six years more experience in the top flight.

Lingard has only managed two assists this season in what has been a disappointing campaign for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

The 26-year-old has also scored just the four goals for the Red Devils this year, featuring in 27 league games that saw them finish in sixth.
