Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold was interrupted by his mum as he surprised Reds fan Tony Cavener in a video call to thank him for the incredible work he is doing in his community during the current coronavirus crisis.
Taxi driver Tony is at higher risk to COVID-19 due to his asthma but that hasn't stopped him from delivering thousands of food packages to some of Merseyside's most vulnerable along with supporters' union 'Spirit of Shankly.'
Alexander-Arnold appeared suddenly on Tony's screen during a conversation with somebody else who is heard saying: “There's something wrong with your sound, I'm just got to let someone else in on the call.”
The cabbie gets over his shock as he recognises Liverpool's home-grown hero straight away and the pair discuss the work he has been doing.
The West Derby-born right-back who had to stop during the call to introduce Tony to his mum Dianne, said: “From the club to you, to the people that are doing it and the frontline workers and everyone who is putting their own health and safety at risk to help others, we can only say thank you, so thank you Tony.”
Speaking to Alexander-Arnold during the video call Tony said: “I feel a bit of a cheapskate really because I don't think I'm worthy [to receive a thank you]…but that's just given me the boost because we've got more deliveries to do.”
