Inter Milan may be without Alexis Sanchez for their Europa League semi-final showdown, after the Chilean damaged his leg during the 2-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

Sanchez came on as a substitute just after the hour mark, only to pull up in the latter stages of play.

Heavy strapping was required for his right leg, though Sanchez was able to play out the final moments.

Following the match Inter confirmed via social media that their recent signing from Manchester United had sustained a 'muscle strain in his right leg.'

Inter have only just recently confirmed the permanent signing of Sanchez, after initially loaning him from Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old has rediscovered some sharp form under manager Antonio Conte, though has struggled with injuries during his time at the San Siro.

Sanchez spent a large spell early in the campaign in the treatment room after damaging a peroneal tendon in his foot.

He missed 14 games for the Italian giants as a result.

Inter were able to get the job done against Leverkusen courtesy of strikes from Nicolo Barella and Romelu Lukaku.

It was yet another European goal for Lukaku, who in the process broke a record for being the first player ever to score in nine consecutive Europa League games.

Inter will face Shakhtar or Basel in the semi-final, and could yet face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's United in a showpiece final if both teams progress.
