Alisson: Messi helps me a lot, I never consider Ederson a rival but as a support

Alisson has credited Lionel Messi and Ederson as two players who have challenged him to become one of the very best goalkeepers in the world.

The Brazil and Liverpool goalkeeper has played against Messi for club and country, while City goalkeeper Ederson is his main competitor on the international stage.

'When we play with, and against the best, we can only progress. And Messi helped me a lot!' Alisson said to France Football. 'Against him, I experienced some of my best footballing memories.'

Another rival that Alisson admires is Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.

Alisson is ahead of him in the pecking order at Brazil but the Liverpool man is not resting on his laurels.

'We have always been in competition to be the best,' he said. 'But the luck I've had with Ederson is to have him as a big brother. I never considered him a rival but as a support. Sometimes I do not have words to say what he means to me.

'I've always had some great competition! I believe that God has put these great players in my path so that I can become better every day.'

Alisson will miss Liverpool's Merseyside derby clash with Everton after being sent off in the 2-1 win over Brighton at the weekend.
