Sunday afternoon's clash between Athletic Club and Villarreal has provided a rather unique talking point due to the fact all 22 starting players are Spanish.
Now, in the world of modern football where most teams are built with transfers from abroad, this is an unusual scenario and hasn't happened since Eibar vs Real Sociedad on August 24, 2014.
Of course, the Basque club are a unique case because every single one of their players has to be of Basque descent, so it was always likely that such an eventuality would include Athletic Club, but for Villarreal this is something fairly unique.
They also had an all-Spanish XI last weekend, but they could have opted for some of their top foreign talents such as Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Carlos Bacca or Samu Chukwueze.
With the three all not selected to start on Sunday, Javier Calleja was able to select a team made up entirely of Spanish players, certainly something which will be of note to Luis Enrique as he attempts to formulate his squad plans for Euro 2020.
