Amad Diallo has given an insight into his elite mentality that has seen him become a mainstay in Ruben Amorim's Manchester United squad, confessing what he told the manager during their first training sessions together.

The 22-year-old impressed at the start of the season having been trusted on United's right-wing, scoring in the second game of the season against Brighton, only to be dropped by Erik ten Hag.

Amorim's subsequent arrival following the Dutchman's sacking rejuvenated the club's down-and-out squad and Amad has benefitted perhaps more than any other player after starting every match of the Portuguese's reign so far.

United's change to a 3-4-3 formation has seen the Ivory Coast international transformed into a right-wing-back and has starred in the new position receiving praise from his boss, team-mates and pundits alike.

Amad's relentless energy has seen him prove a pivotal asset in both United's attack and defence, assisting twice in the weekend's 4-0 thrashing of Everton and highly effective in helping secure a valuable clean-sheet.

The youngster has been transformed into one of the club's most consistent first-team stars since Amorim became United's youngest-ever Premier League manager and Amad revealed what he told the new head coach upon speaking for the first time.

Revealing his willingness to play in any position asked of him, Amad defiantly told the club website: 'You can't be focused only in one position.

'Sometimes you can play as a defender, sometimes you can play as a striker. Wherever the manager puts me, I'm ready to fight for the team.

'I have no problem to play just as the right winger or no. 10, I can play everywhere. Like I said to the manager, if you need me as a keeper, I'm ready to do my best,' he added.

Amad is amongst the players that have been singled out for individual praise by Amorim who has hailed the attacking full-back for being dedicated to his disciplined approach.

Now, Amorim will reportedly hold talks with Amad Diallo in a bid to convince the Man United winger to commit his future to the club.

'He was really good again,” Amorim said of Amad after United's weekend win over Everton.

'He’s in a great moment, but that moment starts with the group. So, I just take advantage of Ruud’s [van Nistelrooy] work with Amad.

'Amad was really good defensively and really good attacking and he has to continue to play like that.

'You could feel at the end of the game that he was really, really tired, so we also have to manage that as he increases the physical ability,' he added.
