Andre Gomes has trained in the gym for the first time since suffering his horror right ankle dislocation fracture less than two-and-a-half months ago.
Gomes suffered the injury against Tottenham in November and is now stepping up his recovery with individual training sessions at Finch Farm.
The Portuguese star looked delighted to be back at the club's training ground, where physios helped him with some strength and conditioning training.
Gomes made his return to the club on Tuesday where he received a warm welcome from staff and team-mates.
Last week, manager Carlo Ancelotti said he was hopeful the 26-year-old would return soon, after two-and-a-half months on the sidelines.
'Andre Gomes can come back next week and start to train individually here,' Ancelotti said.
'It is good news. He is doing well in his recovery.
'It is going fast, so I hope as soon as possible he can be with us, because he's a fantastic player.'
Gomes, signed permanently from Barcelona in the summer after impressing on-loan last season, suffered the injury after a tackle from Son Heung-min on November 3 at Goodison Park.
The South Korean was sent off and was in tears as he left the pitch, though his red card was later rescinded on appeal.
Since the injury, Everton have sacked Marco Silva and brought in three-time Champions League winner Ancelotti at the helm.
After an upturn in form last month under caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson and three wins from four Premier League games under Ancelotti, the Toffees are up to 11th in the Premier League table.
Gomes has so far missed a total of 13 matches in all competitions, which include defeats to Leicester City and Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup respectively.
