The long-time nickname bestowed upon Andreas Pereira by Manchester United’s fans has come back to the fore across social media over the last 24 hours, on the back of the club’s meeting with Brentford.

As the Premier League season inches ever closer to getting underway, the Red Devils kicked their preparations up another notch, in a friendly clash versus top-flight newcomers Brentford.
United headed into the action at Old Trafford aiming to bounce back, following a disappointing 4-2 defeat at the hands of QPR last time out.
When all was said and done at the Theatre of Dreams, though, the hosts were unable to clinch their 2nd pre-season victory, en route to a 2-2 stalemate.
Youngster Anthony Elanga bagged the game’s opener – his 2nd in two games – with Shandon Baptiste and Bryan Mbeumo having been on target for Brentford.
Without doubt the game’s most noteworthy moment, though, came in the form of United’s 2nd, early in the 2nd half.
After Jesse Lingard’s initial effort was kept out, the ball ultimately made its way to the edge of the area, where the returning Andreas Pereira – fresh off a loan stint in Serie A with Lazio – was on hand to lash home a remarkable volleyed effort off the underside of the crossbar:

Pereira’s strike, and overall performance, meanwhile, did not go at all unrecognised on the part of the Manchester United faithful.
