Angel Gomes has been urged to carefully weigh up his options before making a decision on his future at Manchester United.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been offered a new long-term deal at United but is yet to commit his future to the club amid interest from some of Europe's top clubs.

Gomes has made just six senior appearances for United this season but has seen his opportunities limited due to an unfortunate injury lay-off.

Barcelona are one club to have shown an interest in a move for the teenager, and former United wonder-kid Febian Brandy has urged him to stay at Old Trafford.

Brandy was himself offered the chance to play for Barcelona during his early years at Old Trafford, but rejected a move in order to concentrate on making a breakthrough at United.

"Whatever team you are at, even if you are at Barcelona and you are coming through the ranks. Let's say Angel Gomes is at Barcelona, and his situation is the same. If United came knocking on the door then you would be getting a big excited," Brandy told MEN Sport.

"I think it is one of them ones where I think Angel needs the right people around him, he needs to be given the right advice and I think whatever decision he makes it will be a good one.

"In my eyes I think he should stay at United because Ole knows about him and thinks very highly of him, but then Angel needs to weigh up his options. Is he going to breakthrough at Barcelona? But then again La Liga football might suit the way Angel plays, it is just one of them ones when it comes to crunch time only Angel will know what he is going to do. But, I do know Ole would like to keep him."
