Bissouma stars for Brighton
Yves Bissouma has so far notched 99 appearances across all competitions for Graham Potter’s Brighton.
The 24-year-old is confident with the ball at his feet, and more than capable of picking it up from deep to either take players on, or pick out the right pass to a teammate. Bissouma is also a progressive passer who generally avoids the sideways option.
And, at the other end of the pitch, the midfielder’s work rate and stamina allow him to get back and help out defensively.
As part of the current Brighton system, Bissouma is generally fielded as the more defensive-minded central midfield option, alongside the likes of Adam Lallana or Pascal Gross, and has long excelled in his role.
His long-time impressive form for a fairly average side, though, has inevitably begun to pique the interest of superior clubs.
Reports this year have suggested that all of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on the Malian.
Trio of clubs eyeing January move for Bissouma
Bissouma would of course stay put this summer. But it is now being suggested that the Brighton star will be the subject of transfer interest in January.
According to the Mirror citing the Metro:
Bissouma is said to have a price-tag of about £40m. And whilst that is slightly expensive in a post-covid market, it still seems like a great bit of business for both Man United and Arsenal.
United are in desperate need of a proper defensive midfielder to complete their squad, whilst Arsenal quite clearly need to upgrade on Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny.
