Arsenal and Liverpool are set for a transfer battle to sign teenager Ricardo van der Laan.
The 17-year-old is a reported target for both clubs after impressing scouts with his performances in the youth system at current club Belenenses.
Van der Laan is a highly-rated goalkeeper and has already featured in Belenenses' under-23 squad, playing four times this season.
Portuguese publication O Jogo report he has just one year remaining on his contract, paving the way for Arsenal or Liverpool to land him next summer.
He was previously on the books of Benfica and has been capped at under-18s level by Portugal, though could qualify for Holland as he holds dual nationality.
The talented stopper has been attracting interest from several other Premier League clubs too, as well as across Europe, but Liverpool and Arsenal are believed to be monitoring him closely.
Liverpool have only just tied down youngster Jakub Ojrzynski to his first professional contract at the club.
The Polish goalkeeper, 17, has performed well in his first year since arriving last summer, after The Reds beat Man Utd to his signature.
Ojrzynski possesses exciting pedigree, earning a place in Liverpool's under-19 team in the UEFA Youth League.
His new deal will keep him at Anfield until 2023.
Liverpool released three goalkeepers last month, and signed 16-year-old stopper Fabian Mrozek from FC Wroclaw.
Meanwhile the club's no.2 Adrian has insisted he wants to stay at Liverpool despite links with other clubs.
“I see myself in Liverpool at the moment,” he told Radio Sevilla
“I still have many years of football left, and we will see. I have one more year and another optional one. Right now I wouldn’t change anything to be here in Liverpool and enjoy this beautiful moment. After this moment I honestly don’t know, football is a lot of fun.
“In the summer, I saw myself, being free, the possibility of returning to Betis was there, but it vanished.
“You have to live the present, and we’ll see what happens next.”
