Arsenal are reportedly favourites to sign PSV Eindhoven's £42million rated winger Cody Gakpo
The 22-year-old has scored 16 goals across all competitions to go with 15 assists in his 37 appearances so far this season, keeping the club in the hunt for their first Eredivisie title since the 2017-18 season.
Such form has unsurprisingly drawn the interest of European giants, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all reportedly accelerating their interest in the £42million-rated star after it was claimed PSV would be open to selling in the summer if they receive a suitable offer.
Dutch publication Voetbal International, have now reported that the Gunners are favourites to sign the dazzling winger.
Mikel Arteta's side were strongly linked to the Holland international during the last transfer window following Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang's departure and their need to to strengthen in attack.
However, they were dealt a setback as PSV renewed the Dutch star's contract until 2026.
Despite his new contract, it will be tough for the Eredivisie side to keep the player given the interest in him from clubs across Europe.
Earlier in the season, the club's technical director, John de Jong, admitted Gakpo will eventually leave them.
He said: 'Gakpo will of course not stay in Eindhoven forever. He will go to a top club in a top league in the future. Or will that happen next summer? That's hard to say.'
Gakpo made his Holland debut last summer at Euro 2020, but he didn't join up with the squad for their friendlies against Denmark and Germany this month after picking up a knock during his side's Europa Conference League win over Copenhagen.
Arsenal will be keen to strengthen their attacking options during the summer transfer window, particularly with strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah yet to sign new contracts.
One big factor whether the Gunners will sign Gakpo is if they can qualify for the Champions League.
They are currently in the final Champions League spot in fourth, three points ahead of Tottenham with ten games remaining.
