Arsenal reportedly want Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi but the Eagles are set to demand a titanic fee in the summer.
The England centre-back is not currently on the market but his performances have attracted longing gazes from the Premier League's top clubs.
Palace slapped a £50million price tag on Guehi in the summer with Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Arsenal all reportedly keen.
Now The Sun report that Mikel Arteta is undeterred and sees Guehi in his long-term plans, but that Palace could command a club record fee in the summer.
The 23-year-old has kept up his good form for Palace and they may want more than the £50million they made from selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka to United in 2019.
He is gradually establishing himself as a fixture in the England set-up and has made seven international appearances since his debut last year against Switzerland.
There should be stiff competition for his signature and when Chelsea sold him to Crystal Palace, they included a clause where they can match any bid for him.
That was back in 2021, when Palace paid £18m for the defender - a fee that looks like a steal now.
Across 91 appearances in South London, he has turned into a leader and a player with widsom beyond his years.
Comfortable in possession and defensively solid, he is a strong all-rounder who could add something to most back lines in England.
He still has areas to work on, of course. He was robbed by Sean Longstaff on the edge of the box in Palace's 4-0 defeat at Newcastle earlier this month but is generally reliable on the ball.
Arsenal currently have a strong pairing of their own in WIlliam Saliba and Gabriel, but as they hope to go deep in Europe under Mikel Arteta the demands on their squad will ramp up.
Guehi might have some bad memories of playing against the Gunners as he scored an own goal against them in a 2-0 loss to open the 2022/23 Premier League season.
