Arsenal are targeting goalkeeper Joan Garcia and Espanyol manager Manolo Gonzalez has admitted they "can't do anything" to stop the transfer.
Aaron Ramsdale is set to leave the Emirates before the transfer window closes, having lost his place as Arsenal's No.1 to David Raya. Mirror Football understands that Ramsdale is set to complete a £25million move to Southampton.
Garcia has been lined up to replace the England international, with sources close to Spaniard saying he is open to a late move. The 23-year-old has a release clause in his contract which is believed to be worth £21m
And Gonzalez has admitted Espanyol are powerless to prevent Garcia leaving if Arsenal trigger that clause. "I can't do anything. If they pay the clause, we can't do anything," Gonzalez told Marca.
"I'm very happy that he's here and that he's from the club. I don't think he'll leave, but I can't know. It's a luxury to have a player like him. I say it every week, I don't think he'll leave. If I eat it, I'll eat it, but it's difficult for someone to pay a 30 million clause.
"If someone wants him, they should pay the clause. I can't say any more." Arsenal are understood to have reached an agreement in principle with Garcia over personal terms, with the only issue whether Espanyol are open to negotiations or will demand the Gunners pay his release clause in full.
Garcia was part of the Spain squad which won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics and played a key role as Espanyol earned promotion to LaLiga last season. Having started the campaign as the backup goalkeeper behind Fernando Pacheco, Garcia replaced him as Espanyol's No.1 in March.
He did not lose a single league game last season and starred as Espanyol beat Real Oviedo 2-1 on aggregate in the play-off final. If the deal does go through, Garcia will become Arsenal's fourth new signing this summer.
Defender Riccardo Calafiori has joined from Bologna, while midfielder Mikel Merino has signed from Real Sociedad. Arsenal also made Raya's loan move from Brentford permanent after triggering a £27m option.
