Arsenal fans have heaped praise on defender William Saliba after his passionate celebrations on Tuesday night.

The Gunners booked their place in the Champions League quarter-finals after a dramatic penalty shootout win with Porto - after a 1-1 draw following extra-time.

Luckily for Mikel Arteta's side, Porto's Wendell and Galeno both missed from the spot and, in turn, ensured Arsenal progressed to the next round.

As soon as Galeno's effort was saved by David Raya, Arsenal's stars broke out into celebration - with Saliba's antics caught on camera by one supporter.

In a video that appeared on X, formerly known as Twitter, after the game Saliba was seen jumping past his Arsenal team-mates and pumping his fists in the air.

The Frenchman also grabbed the Arsenal badge on his shirt and pointed to it vigorously, as he faced towards the home supporters.

He quickly leapt back to his team-mates to continue the celebrations but it didn't take long for fans to comment on his passionate celebrations.

'Saliba actually scammed us into believing he's calm and collected fella... He's a thug,' one fan said in response to the video.

'That passion from William Saliba', one account wrote.

'My CB, he was acting how Arsenal fans celebrated all over,' another user said.

One user wrote: 'He's not just an Arsenal player, he's an Arsenal fan through and through'.

'I didn't think I could like him more than I already did!', another fan wrote.

Following Arsenal's victory, Porto head coach Sergio Conceicao has accused Mikel Arteta of insulting his family during the tense Champions League encounter.

'The result was injust. Our team deserved to go through,' said the Porto boss.

'What Arteta said, towards the bench in Spanish, he insulted my family. He should focus on training his team.'

Arteta has denied Sergio Conceicao's accusations, with club sources indicating the Spaniard did not say anything about his rival's family.
