Arsenal’s new vice-captain?
Arsenal would release their 2021/22 senior squad photo on Tuesday, September 21st.
The Gunners had all their new signings there, with the photo also seeming to have indicated Arsenal’s new vice-captain.
That role had previously belonged to Hector Bellerin. However, with the Spaniard now on loan at Real Betis, it would need to be given to someone else.
And, as that photo suggests and as Arsenal fans are now believing, Granit Xhaka is now the vice-captain, as he is sat next to Mikel Arteta along with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – a theory football.london also seem to believe means Xhaka could now be the VC.
This is generally how teams set up their squad photos, with the captain and vice-captain either side of the boss.
Arsenal fans react to Xhaka being the potential vice-captain
