Arsenal half-time player ratings vs FC Nurnberg as Saka shines and Vieira decent

How the Gunners got on in the first half of their preseason clash with FC Nurnberg at Max-Morlock Stadion

Aaron Ramsdale: Hardly anything to do on his first start since returning to preseason training. New goalkeeping kit looks good though! 6.

Ben White: Lovely ball over the top for Bukayo Saka's goal. Will be aware that there's competition incoming from Jurrien Timber, but stood up to it well. 7.

William Saliba: Looked composed on his first start since March. Did seem a little tired after having to make a few sprints but that's understandable. A solid return overall. 6.

Gabriel: Given the captain's armband in Martin Odegaard's absence - a sign of his status in the squad. Dovetailed well with Jakub Kiwior at left back, interchanging position when in possession. 6.

Jakub Kiwior: Whereas in his early left back appearances Kiwior looked awkward coming infield, he now looks comfortable. Did the role really well in the absence of Alex Zinchenko. 7.

Thomas Partey: Looked far more comfortable restored to his central midfield position. At ease in possession to remind everyone what he has to offer amid the impending arrival of Declan Rice. 6.

Leandro Trossard: Some typically impressive link up play with his teammates. The Belgian looks so at home in this Arsenal side. It's been interesting to see him getting minutes in the left eight position. 7.

Fabio Vieira: The Portuguese midfielder needs to work on his dead ball delivery, but when the ball was in play his Martin Odegaard tribute act was impressive. Some lovely link up with Saka. Might have wanted to impose himself more given the chance he got. 7.

Bukayo Saka: A superbly taken goal that sums him up as a player. The physicality to outmuscle the Nurnberg defender and then the poise to apply the powerful finish. He was Arsenal's biggest threat in the half. 8.

Eddie Nketiah: A relatively quiet outing. On another day he might have scored after Nelson's early cutback. Some decent hold up play on occasion. 6.

Reiss Nelson: Looks really bright on the left wing which seems to now be the position where Arteta sees his future. Looks a lot more confident on the pitch and ready to decide matches. 7.
