Arsenal have opened talks over a £23million summer swoop for Feyenoord playmaker Orkun Kokcu.
Sportsmail understands initial overtures with regards to a move for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder are underway.
Feyenoord want to extend Kokcu’s current deal, which expires in 2023, but there are concerns at the Dutch club that they do not have the financial power to keep the midfielder given his growing status as one of Europe’s most promising young players.
Arsenal want to capitalise on the growing uncertainty over Kokcu’s future and are moving to strike an early deal for the teenager.
Technical director Edu has identified the youngster as a priority singning for the club ahead of next season.
Kokcu is almost certain to be part of Turkey’s Euro 2020 campaign and is being tipped to be one of the stars of the tournament.
And there is a concern the Gunners could miss out on Kokcu if they do not complete an early move for the schemer, particularly if he goes onto become a hit at the Euros.
