Highly-rated Arsenal youngster Julio Pleguezuelo has revealed has had transfer offers to return to Spain.
The defender, 21, arrived at the Emirates as a teenager from Barcelona in 2013.
He has spent loan spells at his hometown club Mallorca and Gimnastic.
But the centre-back is understood to have earned rave reviews since his return north London and new boss Unai Emery handed him his debut in the Carabao Cup last month against Blackpool.
Pleguezuelo insisted he wants to fight for a first team place. But with less than two months before the winter transfer window re-opens for business, he admitted that he has received offers to return to his native Spain.
“I am waiting to see how everything develops," he told Marca.
“My goal is to stay at Arsenal .
“I would like to continue and, if it is not here in England - I have offers in Spain.
"I have to talk to my representative. But at the moment it’s not my idea to go back.”
Although well regarded at Arsenal, young Pleguezuelo is behind the likes of Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Rob Holding in Emery’s defensive pecking order.
“There is always a lot of competition, they are experienced players who have a lot of quality," he added.
“I do not see them as enemies, just the opposite.
"For my part, what I will do is continue to give the coach reasons to select me and when he does, be prepared."
With a packed festive programme to come in December, Pleguezuelo will be patiently waiting to get his chance to impress boss Emery.
His chance may come again in the Europa League with the already-qualified Gunners playing Vorskla and Qarabag in their final group stage games.
Arsenal play arch-rivals Spurs in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup at home on December 19 where Pleguezuelo will be desperate to add a second appearance in the competition to his name.
