Arsenal have joined La Liga giants Real Madrid in a race to sign Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane this summer.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal are considering a move for the former Manchester City star, who has been offered to Real Madrid by his representatives. The Gunners are expected to provide stiff competition to Carlo Ancelotti's side for the German, who is reportedly valued at €50 million by Bayern.
The price could be a bargain as the winger is approaching the peak of his career. His dribbling, speed, and directness could be a major asset for Arsenal and Real Madrid.
Sane joined Bayern in 2020 after four seasons with City. During his time at the Etihad, he scored 37 goals and registered 46 assists in 134 appearances across all competitions. He was also instrumental in the club's success in winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two EFL Cups.
He endured an underwhelming debut campaign with the Bavarian giants as he scored just 10 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions. However, the 26-year-old has been able to improve his numbers this season with 14 goals and 15 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.
Despite the winger being a regular starter for Bayern, his representatives have reportedly offered him to Real Madrid. Los Blancos could be in the market for a new forward this summer with Gareth Bale and Isco leaving the club after the expiration of their contracts last month.
According to Diario AS, Marco Asensio has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu as he has just one year left on his contract.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are keen to continue bolstering their attack this summer. The Gunners will be looking to sign a world-class player to play alongside Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus in the front three.
Gabriel Martinelli showed signs of getting back to his best during the second half of last season. However, the Brazilian has suffered from injuries and has also been inconsistent in recent years. Sane could be open to joining the north London club as he will be able to reunite with former City coach Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium.
Leroy Sane is likely to prefer a move to Real Madrid over Arsenal
Sane is likely to consider leaving Bayern Munich only to join a club that will give him the chance to win trophies and play in the Champions League.
Real Madrid won La Liga and the Champions League last season. Furthermore, they have strengthened their team this summer by signing Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are still a work in progress under Mikel Arteta. The Gunners showed signs of improvement last season and were favorites to finish in the top four of the Premier League during the second half of the campaign. However, a slump in form towards the end resulted in them finishing fifth in the table and failing to qualify for next season's Champions League.
The club have strengthened their squad by signing Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner this summer. They are, however, unlikely to compete for the league title next season as they are still far off in terms of quality from the likes of City and Liverpool.
