Arsenal still working on possible deal for Boca Juniors forward Pavon

  /

Arsenal remain keen to land Cristian Pavon from the Argentine giants Boca Juniors, according to a report from Football London.

The Gunners were heavily connected with a move for the Argentina international winger throughout the summer transfer window, but Boca Juniors were able to retain their star man’s services.

Barcelona were also understood to have been keen on Christian, but he opted to put pen to paper on a fresh contract with the Argentine side in mid-July.

Nevertheless, Gunners’ interest in signing Pavon from Boca Juniors appears to be as strong as ever, with Football London’s report states that Raul Sanllehi (new head of football), has already staged negotiations with the club over a possible deal for the winger.

Pavon has, for a while, been a talismanic figure for Azul y Oro and has cemented his place in the Argentina squad. Pavon’s development has not gone unnoticed, it looks like, with Arsenal’s interest documented once more.

The north London giants have a variety of forward alternatives at their disposal already but are threadbare in the wide zones, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having recently operated in an unnatural left wing position.

It seems Christian is a concrete target for Arsenal as they continue to strive for success in a new era at the club, led by Raul.
