Arsenal's Edu can fund two signings with £92.5million selling spree

Mikel Arteta's transformation of Arsenal is still very much a work in progress, although he's begun to lay down the foundations for a new-look squad.

The Spaniard - along with Gunners technical director Edu - was one of the busier managers in the summer transfer market.

Arteta brought five new players to the Emirates, splashing out a total of £77.4million to acquire their services.

The former Gunners midfielder did, however, miss out on the signature of one of his main targets - Lyon's Houssem Aouar.

Arsenal tabled two offers for the 22-year-old but had both of their approaches firmly rebuffed by the Ligue 1, who wanted their valuation of the midfielder to be met.

Lyon's valuation of the Aouar is understood to be around close to £50million, a figure Arsenal could raise by getting rid of some of the deadwood at the Emirates.

The offloading of four peripheral players in the near future could see the north Londoners raise £92.5million, which would be enough cash to for them buy Aouar and land Celtic hitman Odsonne Edouard - who Arteta is understood to be a fan of.

So let Mirror Sport reveal the four stars who could help increase Arsenal's transfer funds by close to £100million.

Mesut Ozil

The former Germany international has become persona non grata at the Emirates under Arteta, who has omitted the creative midfielder from the Gunners' Europa League and Premier League squads.

Offloading the former Real Madrid man - whose contract expires in June - could see the Gunners raise £26million for their transfer fund.

Ozil, 31, is currently taking home a whopping £18million in wages each year and has a market value of £8million

Alexandre Lacazette

The France international has repeatedly been linked with a move away from the Emirates in recent years as he's found himself playing second fiddle to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Selling the former Lyon man could see the Gunners generate a cool £42million as the 29-year-old has a market value of £38million and is taking home £4million a year in wages.

Sead Kolasinac

Arsenal looked to offload the Bosnian in the summer, with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen eager to acquire his services.

A move to Leverkusen, however, never materialised for the full-back - although it could come to fruition in January as it's understood the Germans are still keen on signing him.

Should Arsenal successfully offload Kolasniac, they'd raise £14.2million for their war chest as the defender is currently valued at £9million and is pocketing a cool £5.2million in wages each year.

Sokratis

Offloading the out-of-favour centre-back wasn't a priority for Arteta last summer, but soon could be if he wants to increase the funds available to him.

Selling the Greece international would see the north Londoners raise £10.3million as he's valued at £5.5million and on £4.8million-per-year contract.
