Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes the depth in quality of his squad is shining through as his side went five points clear at the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Brentford.

However, Arteta is far from happy with the hectic schedule his team are having to deal with.
A bruising past week saw the Gunners face Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Chelsea in the space of seven days, with Arteta deciding to rejig his team for the visit of Brentford, resting Jurrien Timber, Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze.
Ben White and Noni Madueke, both handed starts by Arteta, combined for the first goal as the former crossed for Mikel Merino to head home his second goal in as many games.
The Spaniard has now scored nine league goals in the calendar year, the most of any Arsenal player.
Saka came off the bench to wrap up the three points in injury time, leaving Arteta delighted with the options at his disposal despite the injury list increasing, as Cristhian Mosquera and key man Declan Rice were both forced off.
When asked whether he was getting the maximum out of his squad, Arteta told Sky Sports: "Yes, especially with the amount of injuries we still have.
"We lost [William] Saliba, we lost big Gabby [Gabriel Magalhaes], today we lost Mosquera.
"It's been a challenge. [Ben] White was excellent today. Everyone who is given an opportunity is performing."
With us from start to finish.

Arsenal are back in action against in-form Aston Villa in Saturday's early kick-off, and Arteta is far from impressed with the short turnaround.
"Probably it's not one thing but we can help the players and everybody in the league and everybody to do what we have to do," he said when asked what could be done to help teams and players.
"Give us another day and especially the teams that are playing so much in Europe. To everybody in general, I think we can do that because we're all going to benefit from that.
"We've never had such a schedule at every level, not only in the Premier League but every competition internationally as well. So we need to try to do that please.
"I think it's common sense. At some point, this becomes too much and the players are not machines. But we have to try to do that when we can."
When asked for an update on Rice's status, Arteta said he would know more on Thursday.
Brentford only managed one shot on target as they suffered a sixth defeat on the road in the top flight this season, but Keith Andrews was immensely proud of his side's display.
"I thought we unnerved them," he told Sky Sports.
"Until the goal right at the end, the bits in between, we caused them untold problems. To say I'm proud of the boys is an understatement.
"I thought there were opportunities to play through them a bit more. I rolled the dice and went to a back four for the last few minutes. But it was a fantastic performance against top-level opponents."
